In the sixth meditation, Descartes (finally) proves that "corporeal things exist". How does he prove this? There is no doubt that we have ideas of, say, tables and chairs and our bodies. The question is whether these ideas could be caused either by ourselves or by some other being (maybe God). How does he refute these possibilities?
Furthermore, to what degree is he certain that his ideas of physical objects actually resemble their causes? My ideas of the table include perceptions of its shape, color, size and texture, for instance. Does the actual, physical table resemble these ideas in every particular?
